Toyah Willcox brings her band to Derby to play an intimate stripped back show, full of hits, album tracks and new songs.
Derby Cathedral is set to become the major entertainment venue in the city centre with more than a dozen events already planned this year and more to follow.
Following the closure of the city’s Assembly Rooms in 2013 after a fire in its car park, Derby has been noticeably unable to stage large-scale concerts and exhibitions. At the same time, the cathedral is committed to getting as many people as possible through its doors in addition to those who worship there.
The new wave singer-songwriter will head to London’s Islington Academy on September 9 and the Fleece in Bristol on October 23. Tickets go on sale at 9.00am on May 23.
Toyah confirmed via Facebook that the upcoming shows will be fully electric and feature a new band. (*nope, new gigs were mentioned, not a new band)
Toyah Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows:
Fri September 09 2016 – LONDON O2 Academy Islington
Sun October 23 2016 – BRISTOL Fleece

Derek Jarman’s The Tempest is being screened next month at Watershed, Bristol as part of the BFI presents Shakespeare on Film programme.
Brooding and darkly laden with symbolic imagery, Derek Jarman’s terrific, homoerotic adaptation of Shakespeare’s final play is considered by some to be the most evocative Shakespeare adaptation ever to reach the screen.
A tale of colonialism, revenge, retribution and reconciliation, it focuses on an ageing magician named Prospero (Heathcote Williams) – who is imprisoned on an island with his beautiful daughter Miranda (Toyah Willcox) and a beast called Caliban (Jack Birkett) – and his plans to seek vengeance on his brother by conjuring up a wild tempest to shipwreck his ship. This is Jarman at his most playful and original – enjoy!
