Hundreds of young voices were singing in unison with pop idol Toyah Willcox as the curtain was brought down on Rotherham’s biggest annual youth event.

The One Voice concert at the New York Stadium marked the closing of this year’s Rotherham Children’s Festival. Thousands of children have taken part in talent shows, art, film and music projects during the summer programme based around Rotherham United’s town centre base.

Toyah, who has enjoyed a 30-year singing and acting career, was back in town for the third time to compere the massive choir made up of schools from around the borough.

Rotherham Advertiser: Talent At The New York Stadium

rotherad15aThe Millers’ home will welcome busloads of talent during June and July — but not just of the footballing kind.

Two events will feature singers and more gracing the ground to showcase their skills. The annual Children’s Festival will end on Wednesday, July 8 with One Voice — a concert featuring 2,500 Rotherham youngsters, singing a programme of popular songs.

The recital will be hosted by TV presenter and music idol Toyah Willcox and is expected to draw 5,000 people. Tickets cost £5 each and are available now from the stadium’s box office.

The Star: Toyah To Lead One Voice Choir Show

thestar13bSinger and actress Toyah Willcox will be in South Yorkshire this Friday to compere Rotherham’s One Voice singing celebration.

Toyah will lead the choir – 1,800 Rotherham schoolchildren – at the New York football stadium.

Rotherham MBC: Toyah’s In Town: Singer and Actress Toyah Willcox is coming to Rotherham on Friday to compere Rotherham’s One Voice singing celebration.

Toyah Willcox will be in town on Friday July 5 to host and compere the Rotherham Children’s Festival singing celebration, “One Voice”. Toyah, who has had a career as a singer and actress for over 30 years’ is delighted to be part of such a magical event.
