Toyah on TV: Saturday Cookbook

The edition of Saturday Cookbook Toyah guested on last June, a Diamond Jubilee special, is being repeated later this month on ITV.

Nadia Sawalha and Mark Sargeant are joined by chef Phil Vickery and Toyah Willcox to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Nadia prepares a raspberry and hazelnut meringue, Toyah cooks baked fish with warm beetroot and new potato salad, and Phil and Mark take part in a street party food recipe challenge – will Mark’s coronation gala pie win over Phil’s spectacular butterfly cakes?

Toyah Guests on ITV Daybreak

Toyah made another guest appearance on ITV’s Daybreak yesterday morning. She was on the programme to discuss her experience of the Liverpool Care Pathway, which is in the news again as it’s been announced it is soon to be abolished. All Star Mr & Mrs: Overnight Ratings

Wednesday night’s All Star Mr & Mrs on ITV achieved an overnight audience of 4.02m viewers, an 18.6% share of the total TV audience. 107k (0.4%) tuned in on ITV +1.

This is an increase on last week’s first show of the series and will no doubt be higher when the final figures are released next week. (BARB ratings data by Attentional)

All Star Mr & Mrs: Newsy Bits!

• As everyone knows Toyah and Robert guested on tonight’s All Star Mr & Mrs on ITV. It’s now available to watch online (for UK residents only) at ITV Player for the next 28 days. It’s also available at UTV Player.

• The programme will also be repeated on ITV this coming Saturday at 12.30pm.

All Star Mr & Mrs Facebook: Backstage with singer Toyah Willcox & husband, guitarist Robert Fripp! – Congrats to Toyah & Robert, they won £5,000 for St. Richard’s Hospice, Worcester.

• Overnight viewing figures for tonight’s edition will be announced tomorrow. Last week’s programme was watched by almost four million people, though that will probably be over 5m when the final figures are released.

• Those Twitter folks were agog, tweeting: “Toyah Willcox & hubby are just so adorable!!“, “Awwww.. How sweet are Toyah Wilcox and her hubby Robert Fripp” and someone who doesn’t know that Toyah is only 54!!,  “I want to be like Robert and Toyah when I’m old“… etc.

• The power of a prime time TV appearance. In the couple of hours after All Star Mr & Mrs aired tonight Dreamscape has had FIVE times as many visitors as it usually does.

• The last fortnight has been quite entertaining. Every time I’ve searched for Toyah news online there have been Fripp/King Crimson fans aghast at this programme lol!

All Star Mr & Mrs is back. Hosted by Phillip Schofield, this series will see celebrities such as Ricky Tomlinson, Gabby & Kenny Logan, Tom Fletcher, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Paula Radcliffe, Jake Wood, Will Mellor, Joey Essex & Sam Faiers, James & Ola Jordan, Jennie McAlpine and their partners competing to win up to £30,000 for their chosen charity.

Every episode, the audience gets an insight into the lives of three celebrity couples as they battle it out to win the jackpot for their charity.

Metro: From Absolute Beginners to Quadrophenia: Mod culture on page and screen: Mod culture in books and on the silver screen include Absolute Beginners and Quadrophenia. Here’s our guide: Quadrophenia (1979) – Against the soundtrack of The Who’s 1973 concept album, this mod classic features Phil Daniels as Jimmy – a mod who hates his job and is misunderstood by his parents.

You’re Standing In It: Australian comedy series that looks very similar to the UK’s Three Of A Kind and Not The Nine O’Clock News. Tim & Debbie pay tribute to Toyah Willcox. (This “Toyah” clip has just been added to You Tube. I’m not sure I’d call this a “tribute” or a “homage” but worth a look anyway). More info on the series here.

Today it’s all about last-minute tips, and to get us in the Christmas mood, Jane Wake has enlisted the help of panto stars Gareth Gates and Toyah Willcox to show us some great simple arm exercises.

ITV Meridian: It’s Panto Season – Oh Yes It Is!

A very brief video interview with Toyah, recorded in Canterbury on Saturday, from ITV Meridian: Panto season is almost upon us – oh yes it is! And across the region, the stars are encouraging us get into the Christmas spirit. In Canterbury they’re gearing up for Sleeping Beauty at the Marlowe Theatre with Pop Idol finalist Gareth Gates and Toyah Willcox in the lead roles. • Unfortunately in the age of the internet negative news seems to attract far more attention and interest than positive (funny that!). The Herne Bay Christmas lights switch-on story has went “viral” and been “trending” over the last 24 hours, with even the big media guns giving it coverage, including The Sun, Daily Mail  and BBC News.

Quatermass (1979)

The complete, four-part, late 70s version of Quatermass, starring John Mills and Simon MacCorkindale, in which Toyah also had a small role as Sal, is available to view in full at ‘You Tube’. This was made by Euston Films, filmed in 1978 and aired on ITV in October and November 1979: Chapter One: Ringstone Round; Chapter Two: Lovely Lightning; Chapter Three: What Lies Beneath; Chapter Four: An Endangered Species.
