Brighton & Hove News: Toyah Announces Brighton Concert

Local concert promoters Black Rabbit Productions have announced that they will be bringing 80’s pop star Toyah to the Concorde 2 on Friday 7th October 2022 in celebration of her ‘Anthem 40+1 Anniversary Tour’. Purchase your tickets HERE.

Following her 2021 Top 25 charting album ‘Posh Pop’ and over 80 million worldwide YouTube views for her weekly Sunday Lunch videos with Robert Fripp, national music legend and true icon Toyah is back on tour.

This special tour celebrates 40 years of the iconic, acclaimed and Gold-certified selling album ‘Anthem’. Originally released May 1981, the album contains the smash hit singles ‘I Want To Be Free’ and ‘It’s A Mystery’, alongside bonafide classics such as ‘We Are’ and ‘Obsolete’ that have stood the test of time to this very day. Spending 46 weeks in the charts, ‘Anthem’ became one of the most-loved LPs of the 1980s.

Toyah had only recently announced that she was to put on a concert back on the South Coast with her full live electric band. The venue was announced as The Factory Live, located at Unit 9A, Ivy Arch Road in Worthing. The date was set for Thursday 29th July 2021. Toyah last made a visit to Brighton in November 2019 when she played CHALK to promote her 2019 charting album ‘In The Court Of The Crimson Queen‘.

Toyah Is a four times Brit Award nominated English musician, singer, songwriter, actress, producer and author. In a career spanning more than 40 years, she has had 8 Top 40 singles, released over 20 albums, written two books, appeared in over 40 stage plays and 10 feature films, and voiced and presented numerous television shows.

Brighton & Hove News: Toyah To Play In East Sussex

Toyah to play live in Neo-Classical style former church in East Sussex

Toyah will be hitting the road again next spring, when she will be performing an up close and personal show in East Sussex on Saturday 12th March 2022. The concert will take place within a grade II* listed former Church, which was constructed in the Neo-Classical style. The venue is known as St Marys In The Castle and is located in Hastings.

This will be a truly unique experience to watch and listen to an electric acoustic Toyah show, that will have a lively cinematic sound. The venue will be filled with Toyah’s vocals and storytelling along with keyboards and stand up bass.

It will include her much loved hit singles and classic songs, alongside recalling stories from her colourful, forty year career. Toyah will perform stunning arrangements of hits, ‘It’s A Mystery’, ‘Thunder In The Mountains’, ‘Good Morning Universe’, ‘I Want To Be Free’, alongside modern days classics ‘Sensational’ and ‘Dance In The Hurricane’.

Brighton News: Music Icon Toyah Announces Brighton Concert

bhnews19aToyah hits the road in autumn 2019 to celebrate and perform material from her newly re-imagined double album ‘In The Court Of The Crimson Queen’, released 12 April 2019. The album, written and arranged by Toyah Wilcox and Simon Darlow, presents a collection of finely honed songcraft, killer hooks and brings together two lifetimes of performing, writing and producing music.

The live dates will see the accomplished live performer present songs from the album including lead single ‘Sensational’ and epic album opener ‘Dance In The Hurricane’ alongside instantly recognisable classics from her revered catalogue of hit singles including ‘It’s A Mystery’, ‘Thunder In The Mountains’ ‘Good Morning Universe’ and ‘Brave New World’,  live favourites and renowned album tracks. Simon Darlow will also join Toyah on stage at some of the tour dates.
