Toyah’s second appearance on the BBC quiz show Pointless Celebrities airs next Saturday (the same evening that the new series of Doctor Who premieres). The programme will be available to watch at BBC iPlayer after airing.
Pointless Celebrities: BBC1: Saturday 23rd August: 5.40pm
Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman present a special celebrity music edition of the quiz that rewards the answers that no-one else could think of. Featuring Mark King and Toyah Willcox, Carol Decker and Limahl, Dave Hill and Dave Bartram and Antony Costa and Scott Robinson.
The line up for this year’s Pointless Celebrities series has been announced by BBC One. Beginning with an August 9th comedy special, the upcoming series will feature different themes each week. Toyah will guest (her second appearance) in the third show of the new series.
Pointless Celebrities: BBC 1: Saturday 23rd August: Time tbc Music. Featuring Antony Costa (Blue) & Scott Robinson (5IVE), Carol Decker & Limahl, Dave Hill (Slade) & Dave Bartram (Showaddywaddy) and Mark King (Level 42) & Toyah Willcox.
Exactly 30 years ago Toyah was starring in Claire Luckham’s Trafford Tanzi at the Mermaid Theatre, London. BBC1’s Get Set aired a great interview on the Tanzi set, with Toyah, looking quite amazing, putting Peter Powell in his place! And here it is.
Toyah’s full interview from this morning’s BBC Breakfast is now available to watch at the BBC One website.
Punk princess Toyah talks about her latest role as a Hormonal Housewife
She’s been a punk princess, presenter and even lent her voice to a teletubbie, Toyah Willcox’s career has never been predictable.
Now, the singer is playing herself on stage in Hormonal Housewives, a no holds barred look at everything from pregnancy to old age. ‘Hormonal Housewives’ is touring the UK until the end of May.
Pointless Celebrities: BBC1: Tues 11 Dec: 5.15pm
Comedian Stephen K Amos, singer and actress Toyah Willcox, TV presenter Katie Derham and singer Cheryl Baker take part in the unorthodox general knowledge quiz, in which contestants must find the least likely correct answers to a series of questions posed to members of the public. Presented by Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman.
This has always been one of my favourite Toyah TV appearances, especially as there is very little footage from 1982 of live performances of songs from ‘The Changeling’: It’s BBC1’s Get Set For Summer from July 1982. The band perform ‘Castaways’, ‘Street Creature’ and ‘Brave New World’ and Toyah is also interviewed by Peter Powell. View all at Dreamscape’s You Tube playlist. (Thanks to Andi)
