Toyah guested on BBC Radio Four’s In The Psychiatrist’s Chair in September 1992. A fascinating interview with Dr Anthony Clare. Certainly one of the most honest and interesting of the many Toyah has given over the last 40 years. This originally aired on 9th September 1992 and runs for approximately 40 minutes. Almost every Christmas Eve since December 2000 Dreamscape has posted a website Christmas “card”. It’s usually the final update/post of the year, and a thanks to everyone who has taken the time to visit the site over the past 12 months. Here is a look back at just a few…
Welcome to December! It’s getting cold outside, the festive music and movie channels are in full swing (though they have been since about September ;)) and even the Christmas tree in Toyah’s town now has pride of place (see Toyah’stweet)… It must be the beginning of Christmas, and the start of our annual countdown to the 25th.
Dreamscape has counted down to Christmas, almost, every year since December 2000, and here we go again. Visit every day until Christmas Eve for a festively Toyah related post.
To start the bauble rolling we have a Christmas Surprise, which I hope at least some of you will like… More info soon. In the meantime, it really wouldn’t be the true start of Christmas without a play or two of this.
Take the leap to Dreamscape’s Gallery and browse photos of Toyah from through, almost, her entire professional career; 1977 – 2015. Next year will be the 40th anniversary of the beginning of Toyah’s multi-faceted career – Glitter, with Toyah’s first screen role, as Sue, and debut public singing performances, aired on the BBC in November 1976 (though filmed in ’75).
UPDATED: The Live 2015 Gallery page updated with photos from a variety of Toyah’s gigs this year, as well as some of the festival appearances, including these great shots, by Brian Marsh, from the Eastbourne Bandstand concert in August. Thanks also to Angus Turner, Ian Davis, Layne Patterson and Chris Cox, as well as everyone else from earlier in the year who shared photos. Browse the gallery by clicking below.

Many thanks to those who have been sending photos from some of the recent gigs. I’m not being ungrateful by not adding them, just need to find some spare time to do so. Also Andrew’s In The Fairground website will be updated at some point. The site was never intended to be regularly updated – there were many in the first year just to get it “established”, but Andrew has created more spectacularly awesome Toyah art over the last year which will be added.
Give or take a day or so :) After posting the link to Melissa Mailer-Yates’ feature the other day, I received a couple of messages with some very kind comments about this website over the weekend.
Although it is always nice to receive feedback I have never been a glory seeker type so I don’t particularly enjoy “praise” – This site isn’t my life, it’s essentially a hobby of mine that takes up a small part of my life (most updates are completed in an hour or so every few days, got it down to a fine-ish art lol) – and has always been about Toyah’s crazy-busy career (not her personal life, which any self respecting fan would understand any artist is entitled to) – I have zero interest in self promotion, especially reflected from someone else’s career and achievements… And on that self indulgent note, I’d like to welcome any new visitors to the site, as we rollercoast through our 16th year online, and invite you to take a browse. Thanks to Toyah having such a vast and eclectic 40 year career, there is a huge archive to explore…
Haven’t did this for a while. Maybe some of them just got lost on the interweb, but it’s good to see interest in Toyah is truly global. The last 500 people to visit Dreamscape came from…
