A famous couple has praised a restaurant for being “the heart of the Midlands” and bringing people together from across the Black Country and beyond.

Staff at The Quayside in Stourport have revealed their shock and delight after Birmingham-born singer Toyah Willcox and musician Robert Fripp described their food as “the best”.

Verity Alexander, who works as front of house, said the team couldn’t believe it when the musicians walked through the restaurant doors with some of their regular customers.

Describing the famous couple as “lovely”, Ms Alexander said the visit was made even better when they saw The Quayside had got a special mention on their YouTube channel.

Ms Alexander said: “Toyah and Robert came in really lowkey with a couple of our regulars. They came in first and sat and chilled with a drink. As soon as I heard Toyah’s voice, I knew exactly who she was. She is honestly so lovely and very humble.”
