Been out all day, return home this evening and there’s an explosion of Toyah news online: A brief summary for now: Toyah’s Official Newsletter ‘Breaking Through’ has been mailed out; the news, gigs and blog pages at www.toyahwillcox.com have been updated; dozens of new live dates for 2014 have been announced (including ‘Crimson Queen’ gigs); and a new photo from the recent Dean Stockings/Sean Chapman session has been released. Apart from all that Facebook is awash with photos and videos from last night’s final Love Is The Law & More at the O2 Academy. A proper update soon… In the meantime here’s that gorgeous new photo. Great photos from last night’s Club to Catwalk V&A “In Conversation” event, with Toyah, Caryn Franklin and Karen Binns (replacing Brix Start-Smith) discussing women who developed, fused and influenced fashion and music in 1980s London. Toyah discusses how she got the part of Monkey in Quadrophenia, the audition process, working with Director Franc Roddam, screen testing with John Lydon, kissing Phil Daniels, filming the huge riot scenes in Brighton, and her memories of the period the film was set in. She also talks about the other films she made during the late 1970s, in particular The Corn Is Green.

Your earliest memory of travelling?
As a young child, my family holidays were always in Rock, Cornwall, with my parents, older brother Kim and sister Nicola. We hired a bungalow on the grounds of a hotel, but there were only two bedrooms. Mum and Dad stayed in one while Kim and Nicola shared the other. They used to put me to sleep in the living room by pushing two armchairs together. We lived in Birmingham at the time, so it took what seemed like 10 hours to get there, pootling along the single-track roads and country lanes.
