Salisbury Journal: New Toyah Song In Salisbury Play

Toyah Willcox song to feature in new Salisbury play

A new play will premiere at Salisbury’s Guildhall, featuring a song recorded by Toyah Willcox.

The singer, songwriter and television presenter has recorded Blue Pearl for the courtroom drama, Blue Pearl vs The Ten Mega-Corps, written by Mike Doherty and Mark Thomas.

The music was created by playwright and musician Mike, who approached Toyah during lockdown. Toyah has donated her vocal recording to be played exclusively during the performance of Blue Pearl vs Ten Mega-Corps during the prosecution evidence.

Mike said: “Of course we are thrilled that Toyah Willcox generously agreed to perform the vocals for us. It brings even more excitement to the play.”

Mike explained the story: “A prosecution barrister, concerned for her young twins, takes on 10 global corporations for poisoning the planet.”

Organ Festival 2022: Toyah Willcox announced as narrator

A famous face will be returning to this year’s Organ Festival at Salisbury Cathedral.

Actress and singer Toyah Willcox returns to Wiltshire on Saturday, November 5 for a Fireworks Day performance of Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf.

Toyah and her husband Robert Fripp lived in Broad Chalke in the 1980/90s. She will tell the story of the heroic small boy Peter who takes on a fearsome Wolf, accompanied by a duck, a bird, and a cat.

Timed to work in with firework displays later in the day, the concert begins at 2pm with an hour-long programme.

Salisbury Journal: Toyah’s Party Night

Revenge of the 80s sees Toyah Willcox headlining a special evening of live music on Mayflower Theatre’s stage on Sunday 31 May. The show will also feature The Christians and Jim Diamond with their greatest hits from the 1980s and beyond.

Willcox is a pop icon, TV presenter, and stage and screen actress (Calamity Jane, Cabaret, Jubilee, Quadophenia). She will be with her full band to perform numbers such as her much-loved hit singles It’s A Mystery, Thunder In The Mountains, Brave New World and I Want To Be Free.
