Dreamscape: The Shape Of Things To Come

February 8th, 2013

2013 is shaping up to be yet another eventful and busy year for Toyah, with Hormonal Housewives, The Humans and the Love Is The Law Autumn tour being just some of Toyah’s plans.

Dreamscape is looking forward to another busy year too. As well as the usual news updates we have just launched the Imaginary Toyah Singles feature, there’s the ongoing Remember ’83 and there are a few other interesting projects to come – including a brand new WEBSITE dedicated to Toyah – AND a substantial feature focusing on a specific time in her career.

I can’t say much about these right now as it would just spoil the surprise. If you are a Toyah fan I can assure you they are not to be missed!

Imaginary Toyah Singles: Update

February 7th, 2013

Thanks to those of who you said they like the new feature. I’ve just updated with another four new, completely imaginary, single covers.

Imaginary Toyah Singles: A New Feature

February 6th, 2013

This new Dreamscape feature isn’t imaginary, but everything included in it is!!

I guess it’s just another way of creating something new and different with Toyah imagery, song titles and logos – all of which we are incredibly familiar with. I hope to add to this occasionally so it’s yet another work in progress, and if anyone has any suggestions for a song that they’d like included let me know.

Click below to view the new page, and here or to the left to view an imaginary advert for one of the imaginary singles; “I’ll Serve You Well”.

Dreamscape Gallery: A New Page!

November 4th, 2012

Coming Soon: A dedicated page at Dreamscape’s Gallery for the various Toyah bits & pieces I’ve put together over the years. Storing it all in the one place will mean easier access to having a laugh at my feeble attempts at “fan art”. I didn’t realise quite how many I’d done!

TCR II @ Middlesbrough & New Gallery

September 21st, 2012

The full width photo of Toyah onstage at The Middlesbrough Theatre, on Wednesday, at the opening gig of ‘The Changeling Resurrection II’ Autumn UK Tour. Photos from this gig may be few and far between as the venue didn’t allow the use of cameras! This, a few other photos from the first gig and some other related tour bits & pieces have been added to the new dedicated TCR II Gallery. (Thanks again to Andrew Moore)

Dreamscape Gallery

August 18th, 2012

I’ve made a start on a new update to Dreamscape’s Gallery: Adding the numerous fantastic rarities that have surfaced over the last year or so, with other ‘new’ Toyah photos, as well as correcting some date errors etc. It’ll probably take a while to complete, I’ll keep you posted!

Toyah/Site News Briefs

July 13th, 2012

• Had some lovely feedback on the recent Classic Toyah photos and articles I’ve been adding. As someone said: “it’s good to mix the old with the new”. Toyah has such a rich and vast career history so delving into it is a good idea (I think!). There are more press & photos to come, including larger versions of the photos to the right. (Thanks to Andi Westhorpe for making so many Toyah goodies available | Thanks also to Andrew York)

• Toyah and Robert were filmed all day yesterday for a BBC documentary on the tradition of marriage. Mr Fripp even agreed to be interviewed for the docu!! (News Source: Official Toyah Twitter)

• On a personal note: I’d just like to say a huge congratulations to Toyah on her induction into the King’s Heath Walk Of Fame. I grew up reading interviews with Toyah talking about her early life and teenage years in King’s Heath. How exciting for her to be honoured by her hometown. I’m sure Monday will be a great day and a proud moment for Toyah!

Toyah’s ‘Silver Jubilee’ in 2003?

November 10th, 2002

Toyah's Silver JubileeNext year is, albeit completely unofficial, Toyah’s “Silver Jubilee”!

‘What are you talking about?’, I hear you holler!

Well, in 1978 things started “happening” for TW – big style. Her music, film, theatre and television careers all seemed to conspire to ensure she got very little sleep that year!

The Toyah band finally took shape – in the form of Joel Bogen on guitar, Steve Bray on drums, Pete Bush on keyboards and Mark Henry on bass (though very soon replaced by Charlie Francis), and, of course, Toyah on vocals/verbals/strange noises! They appeared on their first TV show too, Pebble Mill At One and soon-after signed to Safari Records.

Jubilee opened in UK and European cinemas in ’78, and Toyah spent a chunk of the year filming The Corn Is Green and Quadrophenia for the big screen and Quatermass for the small.

So 2003 really is, technically at least, the 25th anniversary of Toyahdom!

Thanks to Robbie and Deano over at Angels & Demons I’ve had an idea:) A one-day Toyah convention to celebrate this important landmark. I’m mentioning it now so that everyone has plenty of time to decide whether this is a good idea, where (Ruby’s – Stoke?) and when (Toyah’s 45th birthday or Summer 2003?) it could take place, and if they want to attend.

A rough guide to ‘Toyah’s Jubilee’ Convention:

• During the day – memoribila stalls, Toyah items – buy, sell, trade?
• Early evening – lookalike competition or Toyah impersonator?
• Night – Big party, 80s Popstar fancy-dress (Thanks Brian;), wall-to-wall Toyah sounds!

Other suggestions, so far, include a charity auction, competitions, Toyah footage video-wall, live performances by the lookalikes (soundalikes – ‘Stars In Their Ieya’s’).

Now at present this is all totally hypothetical but also completely possible. What does everyone else think? A good idea?, crap idea?, too tacky? Please contribute or make suggestions. If this is to become a reality then it would be fantastic to get as many Toyah fans (UK, Europe, US, everywhere) as possible to attend.
