Only a couple of hours until Toyah’s Birthday, just enough time to revisit a selection of Toyah’s fantastic tours from the Twenty Tens: From Sheep Farming To Anthem (2011); The Changeling Resurrection (Spring 2012); The Changeling Resurrection II (Autumn 2012); Love Is The Law & More (2013). Currently most of Dreamscape’s Gallery is offline, but all four of these tour galleries are available by clicking on each image below…
This evening Toyah’s new UK tour begins. To celebrate the announcement of the Love Is The Law & More Tour two live Toyah recordings have been made available for the first time as downloads to add to your collection. They are the special soundcheck version of Rebel Run from The Regal, Oxford in 2011 and the brass version of I Explode from the Wasted Festival 2005. These download links will expire on 31st July 2013 so be sure to catch them while you can.
Toyah tweeted the other day that the Autumn dates (marking the 30th anniversary of the Love Is The Law album and tour) will be announced soon. Now seems as good a time as any to take a look back at the other recent anniversary Toyah tours. Click on each of the below to view numerous photos from each tour. • Vinyl Dreams: Toyah – Thunder In The Mountains/Street Addict: The one with the Mad Max Vid (thanks to Godley and Creme), a gem from 1981. Lots of operatics and bombast with main track, Lady Ga Ga borrowed a lot from her! “Street Addict” is a slower, much darker track and a rare, fan favourite. (Thanks to Andrew)
• From Sheep Farming To Anthem 2011: We Are at the 02 Islington, London in June 2011. View at You Tube. (Thanks to Mark Evans)
• Jelly, featuring Stevie Bray, are playing more live dates. Further details on where and when is available at their Facebook page.
• The Changeling Tour 1982: ‘Angel and Me’, live at the, now demolished, Glasgow Apollo in July 1982. Listen at Fuck Yeah Toyah – and browse some rare photos too, including Toyah with Marianne Faithfull in 1981!
• Angels and Demons: 350 Months Later: Some of the A&D Toyah fans, who famously provided backing vocals on the title track of ‘Love Is The Law’ in Summer 1983, revisited the Mermaid Theatre last week, 30 years after they made it their temporary home while Toyah played Trafford Tanzi. View some photos of the reunion at the ‘I Was A Teenage Toyah Fan’ Facebook.

Toyah’s 2011 UK tour, From Sheep Farming To Anthem, was a huge success and is already looked back on fondly by fans.
The tour saw Toyah wear an array of her legendary Melissa Caplan outfits and perform songs she hadn’t played live for decades at numerous venues through the UK. A true indulgence for diehard fans.

I’d always thought the photo below right, from the ‘From Sheep Farming To Anthem’ 2011 tour at Leicester Square Theatre in London, reminded me of another photo. It wasn’t until Andi recently sent me the above ‘New Chartbusters’ article that I realised which one… Toyah 1980 & 2011! Click to zoom. (Thanks to Andi & Damon King)

We are just about to hit April… and that month is all about ‘The Changeling’, ‘The Changeling Resurrection 2012’ and pretty much nothing else. What else could possibly matter when it’s the 30th anniversary of something so good? Before that, time for a look back to last year’s ‘From Sheep Farming To Anthem’ UK tour: Check out all the news, photos, imagery, press, reviews and gossip at Dreamscape’s ‘FSF-A’ bumper section.

Welcome to October: A month, definitely, of two halves: Half One is all about The Humans, the new ‘Sugar Rush’ album and the ‘Sugar Rush’ UK tour. Half Two is so crammed full of ‘From Sheep Farming To Anthem’… so many classic songs, iconic Melissa Caplan outfits and quintessential Toyah moments… that it’s difficult to move in there… in a good way!
The US ‘Sugar Rush’ dates have been critically acclaimed, with 4-star album reviews, and standing ovations along the way, and the UK tour is definitely not to be missed. Who can put it better than Toyah? She tweeted yesterday: “Sugar Rush stormed the usa, can’t wait for u 2 hear it. Its like original toyah meets space punk“. How can anyone resist that? The new material, which will be heard live on the ‘Sugar Rush’ tour, combines haunting soundscapes, edgy experiments and sweet melodies. Please click on the above promo flyers for full details on how to see both tours. Unfortunately The Humans’ Glasgow date at King Tuts has been postponed by the promoters, but there are still six English/Welsh ‘Sugar Rush’ concerts to go to.
