A Riot of Colour in 1980!
I spent most of yesterday colouring this photo. Crazy I know, but I’ve always wanted to see a non b&w version of it as it’s my favourite band shot from that era… Click to zoom!

Two more Dreamscape creations. Toyah has such a rich history of visuals, it’s good to dip into the photos and try to construct something ‘new’ from the familiar images. I never tire of ‘The Blue Meaning’ and ‘I Want To Be Free’ is an iconic single. Click on each to zoom.
One of the best singles of 1981, excellent production by Nick Tauber and iconic visuals on the single’s sleeve (and 12″ picture disc) and the accompanying video. I’ve always believed that this could be a massive hit again if it was included on the soundtrack of a big movie…
Andrew York continues to add a whole new dimension to well, and not so well, known Toyah photos. Here are just a few of his latest, fantastic, creations. View all of our Andrew posts.

30 years ago this week ‘The Changeling’, arguably Toyah’s finest album, was released. It entered the UK album charts, at number six, on 19th June 1982 and stayed on the chart till September. Here’s Falling To Earth‘s *wishful thinking* 30th birthday pressie…
Sending Best Wishes to Toyah from Falling To Earth and all our visitors… Happy Birthday. Please return later today for our birthday updates… Nothing as elaborate as years gone by I’m afraid, but I hope you like them anyway… Click below to zoom in on our ‘card’!
Good old Photoshop. A great way to pass the time… The famous Dexter Brown Triptych painting of Toyah, used on ‘Toyah! Toyah! Toyah!’ and sold as a fan club poster in 1981. I turned a third of it into “TOYAH 1980” :) Plus some basic artwork for my short Toyah/Doctor Who “crossover” story ‘Elusive Strangers’. Please click on each to view a larger version.
Andrew York’s stunning art, celebrating ‘The Changeling Resurrection 2012’ playing London (it’s sold out dontcha know!). Andrew generously created this Toyah masterpiece especially for Falling To Earth, helping us to mark the occasion in style! Toyah tweeted late this afternoon: “At last! At bush hall! Very busy. There’s 2 film crews in tonite. Can’t wait 2 rock“. Fitting that, the incredible, ‘The Changeling’ is finally being celebrated as it always should have been.
This evening, as Londoners mark the album’s 30th with Toyah, I’ll be consoling myself by ploughing through my new Doctor Who: Revisitations 2 box set (a pressie from a brilliant mate – Thanks Mark!). Please click above to view a larger version of the “Toyah Takes London” art, and here for a version without text. An exciting time for everyone heading to Bush Hall tonight for ‘The Changeling Resurrection’ London concert. Toyah tweeted yesterday: “Waiting to play Bush Hall tomorrow is like waiting for Christmas morning! I wanna play now!“. Return, if you can, later to view amazing Toyah art created, by Andrew York, to mark tonight’s gig. I’ve named it “Toyah Takes London”. For those of you in, or heading to, Brighton for tonight’s first gig of ‘The Changeling Resurrection 2012’ tour… have a great time. For those of you not, please stay tuned to Falling To Earth throughout today for sporadic Changeling-related updates (to ease the pain just a little!). Wishing Toyah and the band an amazing first gig… (Thanks to Andrew York)
‘The Changeling Resurrection 2012’, Toyah’s highly-anticipated new tour, opens in a week’s time in Brighton. Toyah will be playing songs live that she hasn’t performed for 30 years!
Counting down to the first gig of ‘The Changeling Resurrection’… To mark the build-up to this exciting tour, and the first date, I’ll be bringing you something Changeling related each day…
Seven days to go and first up, let’s marvel, once more, at some of Andrew York’s incredible Changeling art. Click on these to view more.
I’ve periodically thought about a Toyah photo book for many years. If anyone is worthy or entitled to a photographic celebration of their imagery it surely is, the visual genius, Toyah? Sadly, I doubt it will ever happen. The copyright issues, sourcing high quality versions of photos, finding the owners/photographers, the cost involved… etc, but I still like to dream…
Welcome to the month of ‘The Changeling Resurrection 2012’… It’s going to be wild (child)!
From Toyah’s Official Facebook today: Welcome to April…the month of THE CHANGELING RESURRECTION 2012 tour which kicks off in Brighton on 14 April. Sugar Rush: The Humans Fansite launched last night. Great to see a new website online and best wishes to those who made it happen. Please click below to visit Sugar Rush.
Would anyone be interested in a fansite dedicated to The Humans? Please register your approval, if you would, at Facebook here. This isn’t related to Dreamscape but I think it would be a great addition to the online Toyah/The Humans webspaces already available.
