Live 2018: Toyah60 Gigs Announced

Toyah will perform 4 special gigs this autumn with her full band, in Manchester, Bristol, Wolverhampton and London.

The year 2018 includes several momentous milestones for Toyah. This includes her 60th birthday and the 40th anniversary of her music career as Toyah recorded her first studio demos in 1978. These special concerts –with her full electric band– will be a celebratory retrospective including hit singles, album classics and fan favourites.

Toyah’s 1987 album Desire will be issued as a new limited edition translucent red vinyl LP on 21 April for Record Store Day 2018.

Toyah Live! 2018: Wychwood Festival

wychwood18aToyah plays the Wychwood Festival, being held at Cheltenham Racecourse over three days, at the beginning of June.

She will be appearing on the Main Stage on day two of the festival, on Saturday 2nd June, for a live PA.

Wychwood Festival returns to Cheltenham racecourse for its 14th annual year from the 1st to the 3rd of June, 2018.

The UK’s favourite family festival takes place within the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside, with over 100 acts performing across four stages, plus music, dance and arts workshops, a circus school and a programme of talks, debates and comedy for all ages.

wychwood18bWith optional idyllic camping and something to satisfy all appetites, there’s no wonder Wychwood has been nominated as ‘Best Family Festival’ each year at the UK Festival awards.

From punk princess to cult stage actress to high priestess of TV, Toyah Willcox is a uniquely gifted performer and an inextinguishable flame. Charismatic, outspoken and impossible to categorise, she is one of Britain’s iconic household names – an award-winning rock legend as well as a much-loved stage/screen actress and music composer.

In a career spanning over 40 years Toyah has amassed thirteen top 40 singles, recorded twenty-four albums, written two books, appeared in over forty stage plays, acted in twenty feature films and presented hundreds of television programmes.

2018 sees a major year of celebration for Toyah as she celebrates her 60th birthday and 40th anniversary of her music career. Her 1987 album Desire (featuring guest playing from Robert Fripp and Ronnie Wood) will be issued as a new limited edition translucent red vinyl LP on 21 April for Record Store Day 2018.

This lively, entertaining and revealing show comes in the form of Toyah performing an unplugged set of her well-loved hits, alongside recalling stories from her colourful thirty-five year career.

The second Bury Pride takes place on Saturday 7 April and promises to be another fun-packed celebration of diversity.

Pop icon Toyah Willcox is the headline attraction on this colourful occasion which features music, food, entertainment and a walking rainbow through the town centre. Tickets for Bury Pride are free and are available at www.bury.gov.uk/BuryPride, where you can also download the Pride Programme with all the information about the sponsors and the activities during the day.

The main stage, outside Bury Town Hall: Headlining will be Toyah Willcox who will be performing with a full band. The outdoor stage will also host the Manchester Gay and Lesbian Chorus, Divas in Denial, Laura Jane Butler as Amy Winehouse and fire eaters Utopia UK, all compered by our host Miss Sal Ford.

She played a 30-minute set at the 80’s Weekender – 48 Hour Party last week in Camber Sands alongside Chesney Hawkes, Tight Fit, Hazell Dean and a variety of tribute bands. The Sentinel: Toyah to Perform at 80s Night Fund-Raiser

Toyah Willcox will be the guest performer at a fund-raising 80s night.

Newcastle-based engineering firm KMF has organised the event, which is being staged at The New Vic Theatre. Eric’s 80s Night on Monday, March 19 will include an 80s band led by David Graham as Eric followed by a performance by Toyah.

Dressing up in 80s costumes is encouraged and there will be a raffle and auction. VIP tickets are available for a meet and greet with Toyah.

Pop sensation Toyah Willcox is set to join T’Pau and Leo Sayer at Jack Up The 80s 2018.

The award-winning rock legend, stage/screen actress, and music composer, has enjoyed a career spanning over 35 years. She has amassed 13 Top 40 singles, recorded 24 albums and toured across the world.

Organisers said “We’re really thrilled, Toyah was a major force of the UK music scene in the 1980s and has remained a well-respected contemporary artist.

“She is renowned for her lively, energetic stage performances during which festival-goers can expect to hear hit singles It’s a Mystery, Thunder in the Mountains, I Want to be Free, Good Morning Universe, Brave New World and Rebel Run.”

One of the most iconic artists of the decade, a regular on Top of the Pops and star of countless TV shows, charismatic Toyah Willcox is set to join hit makers T’Pau and Leo Sayer at Jack Up The 80s next August.

From punk princess to cult stage actress, Toyah is a uniquely gifted performer and an inextinguishable flame. She is one of Britain’s iconic household names, an award-winning rock legend as well as a much-loved stage/screen actress and music composer. In a career spanning over 35 years she has amassed 13 Top 40 singles, recorded 24 albums and toured live across the world.

Jack Up The 80s volume 6 will take place over the weekend of 11th and 12th August and this will be the festival’s second year at its new home Smallbrook Stadium in Ryde.

Owing to the success of the event earlier this year which saw sell-out crowds, 2018 tickets will be strictly limited. Mainstream Early Bird tickets go on sale on Monday 22nd January and will be available to purchase from www.jackupthe80s.co.uk.

eFestivals: Toyah, Leo Sayer & T’Pau for Jack Up the 80s

efest18aToyah, Leo Sayer, and T’Pau are the first acts confirmed for retro festival Jack Up the 80s which will take place at Smallbrook Stadium, Ryde, Isle of Wight from Saturday 11th to Sunday 12th August 2018.

The festival raises funds for local charities and good causes on the Isle of Wight, having raised £20,000 in the past two years alone.

Many more acts will be announced in the coming weeks and months. Early bird tickets go on sale on Monday 22nd January and we’ll have links to buy at that time.

Toyah and Lloyd Cole to play Yarm’s Princess Alexandra Auditorium within a week of each other in February wo huge music names from the 1980s and 1990s have confirmed gigs at a Teesside venue.

Lloyd Cole, who wrote some of the classic hits of his generation, has announced a date at Yarm’s Princess Alexandra Auditorium on Saturday, February 24 next year. … The Lloyd Cole gig comes the week after a show by another iconic 1980s musician – Toyah Willcox. The “It’s A Mystery” singer – who is becoming a regular visitor to Teesside and even dropped in for a pie at Guisborough’s Pie in the Sky cafe last year before playing Middlesbrough’s Longlands Club – plays the Yarm venue on Saturday, February 17.
