March
30, 2003: Su set to
entertain the troops |
Su, along with a
host of others, is set to
entertain the troops in
Iraq, via satellite. This
taken from BBCi News: Satellite
concert for troops
Stars
from the entertainment
world including singer
Claire Sweeney are
holding a variety concert
to boost the morale of
troops fighting in Iraq.
Forces sweetheart
Sweeney, comedian Al
Murray and Pop Idol
contestants Hayley Evetts
and Jessica Garlick will
perform to a celebrity
audience on Sunday.
The concert,
being held in London,
will be recorded and
beamed around the world
to British troops by
satellite. It will also
be converted into a DVD
so it can be sent to
forces fighting in the
Gulf.
The star-studded
audience will also be
entertained by
broadcaster Nicholas
Parsons, Hi-Di-Hi! star
Su Pollard and comic Paul
Zenon at the Thai
Pavilion restaurant in
Kennington, south London.
Hosted by Gary
Wilmot, invited guests
include actors Tom Conti
and Joely Richardson and
stars from Coronation
Street and EastEnders. In
between acts the audience
will get the opportunity
to record their own
personal messages for the
troops.
Support
A
letter of support written
by the Duke of York,
Prince Andrew, will be
read out on the evening
by General Sir Roger
Wheeler. The concert is
being organised by
producer James Black on
behalf of the Ministry of
Defence and Combined
Services Broadcasting.
The event has
been hastily been put
together in less than a
week as a production team
works around the clock to
get the variety show
ready. Mr Black said
everyone had been keen to
take part in the event,
offering their services
for free.
"Everyone
wanted to help out. There
is a strong feeling that
we now must show our
support regardless of
political differences
because they are our
troops out there
fighting," said Mr
Black.
The show will be
seen by up to 200,000
service personnel around
the world, including the
thousands of men and
women fighting in the
Iraq war.

4, 2003: Su, Noisy and
the 'Little Robots' in
the U.S.A. |
Little
Robots, the animated
children's series
featuring Su, Lenny Henry
and many other famous
names, has been a huge
success. Not only has the
show been a big hit here
in the UK, it has also
become a favourite with
viewers in the US too. This
great news has resulted
in the series being
commissioned for another
52 episodes, and the
animation now looks like
it will become yet
another BBC success story.
Following in the
footsteps of the
corporation's recent
other children's series Teletubbies,
Bob The Builder,
and The
Tweenies.
Fantastic news
for Su and everyone
involved in the series.

March
4, 2003: 'Mirror, Mirror,
on the wall...' |
It
could almost be deja-vu
for Su, professionally at
least, this year. Not
only will she be touring
with Annie again
this Summer, but
Christmas 2003 sees her
reprising her role as the
Wicked Queen in Snow
White And The Seven
Dwarfs. This
year's panto is a brand
new production of Snow
White and will play
at the Hexagon Theatre in
Reading over the festive
season.
The
writer and director of
this exciting new
production is Christopher
Lillicrap, who
incidentally was Su's co-star
in the 1982 BBC
children's sketch show Clock
On At The Laughter
Factory.
Su thoroughly
enjoyed playing the
villainess last Christmas
and is thrilled and very
much looking forward to
doing it all over again,
this time in the South of
England
Further
information and ticket
details will be posted
here as soon as they are
finalised.

March

wonderful Chris Monero
production of Annie
for an overseas and UK
tour. Later
in the year Su, once
again, will be playing
the Wicked Queen in a
brand new production of Snow
White And The Seven
Dwarfs.
See News above
for further information
on these projects. And
