Gloucester Citizen: PJ, Nick and Toyah Donate Paintings

gloucit16aPJ Crook, Nick Park and Toyah Willcox donate paintings for Gloucester exhibition in aid of LINC

A star-studded line up of exhibitors including Nick Park, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Toyah Willcox feature in a pop-up exhibition this weekend in Gloucester. The event, at St Michael’s Tower, has been organised by Bishop’s Cleeve artist PJ Crook in aid of LINC.

Nick Park has donated a Wallace & Gromit painting which was created especially for the exhibition.

Toyah Willcox has contributed two watercolours and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, who is also a patron of LINC with PJ Crook, has donated a large Caryatid drawing framed in a magnificent gold frame.

The exhibition takes place on Sunday, May 1 and Bank Holiday Monday, from noon until 6pm each day with tea and cakes.

gloucecho14dToyah Willcox among guests at PJ Crook’s open studio charity event

Toyah Willcox was among the guests at an open studio event hosted by world-renowned artist PJ Crook.

Miniature canvases were sold at the first of two weekends designed to give art-lovers the chance to see a large altarpiece PJ is painting for St Michael and All Angels’ Church in Bishop’s Cleeve. The proceeds from the event at PJ’s Priory Lane studio will be going to the National Star College, LINC, the Friends of Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum and the Holst Birthplace Museum.

Among the visitors were Dame Janet Trotter and 80s pop star Ms Willcox, who lives near Pershore.

Toyah Newsy Bits & Pieces!

Deep Space Works: PJ Crook: Art galleries and private collections worldwide exhibit the paintings of PJ Crook. There is a series of work that has been used for the album covers for the band King Crimson and many from the music world namely Robert Fripp, Toyah Willcox, Peter Gabriel, Billy Joel, and Holly Johnson collect her work.

Vintage TV: The music channel is helping support Toyah’s forthcoming ‘Love Is the Law & More’ Tour by including a report and the dates, along with a recent live photo, at their website.

Fandor: Punk Films, Revisited: Famed British Derek Jarman found a muse in the music when he directed his second feature Jubilee, a denatured fantasy about Queen Elizabeth I being transported to an apocalyptic future.

Quadrophenia: Not only are Toyah and Robert on Australian TV this week in Love & Marriage (see below) but Quadrophenia also aired “Down Under” last night on ABC. More info from Guide TV. (Thanks to Richard Featherstone)

Live 2013: Toyah made her second live (music) appearance of the year on Saturday, a full band concert at the Bunn Leisure entertainment complex in Selsey, West Sussex. Toyah tweeted: “First gig of year with band 2nite. Can’t wait. It will b fun! And it will b very hot!”
