Happy 38th!!: Bird in Flight/Tribal Look

On This Day in 1980 Toyah’s double a-side single Bird In Flight/Tribal Look was released. The single was produced by Matt Dangerfield (The Boys) and recorded in Dec 1979 with Joel Bogen, Charlie Francis, Steve Bray & Pete Bush. Click below for a celebration collage from Official Toyah.

Live 2016: More Gigs/New Tour T-Shirt

More new gigs for this year have been confirmed at The Official Toyah Willcox Wesbite. These include Acoustic, Up Close & Personal dates; Proud, Loud & Electric gigs, and a variety of music festivals (Rewind, Let’s Rock Leeds), There’s also a new Toyah t-shirt for 2016, which will be available to buy at gigs, featuring the Bird in Flight single sleeve emblazoned on the front. Bird in Flight: A rare promo flyer for one of Toyah’s greatest singles, ‘Bird in Flight/Tribal Look’ from 1980, was recently listed on ebay. The reverse includes info on Toyah’s Safari recordings up to the release of the single. A great piece of retro Toyah memorabilia!

Made At The Mill: Toyah tweeted a photo taken at the Kaleidoscope event celebrating Pebble Mill yesterday. She participated in presentations on Look! Hear! and Glitter – View the photo at Instagram.

Time Out: ‘Quadrophenia’ reunion screening + Q&A: Time Out says – Reunion screening of the 1979 film, loosely based around the rock opera by legendary band The Who. Cool Britannia: On this day (14th September) in 1979, The film Quadrophenia was released. Based on The Who’s 1973 rock opera the film featured Phil Daniels & Toyah Willcox.

Smash Hits Archive: September 15-28, 1983: A small news article on Toyah is included in this issue, just uploaded 30 years to the day it was originally published: Toyah’s new single, “Rebel Run”, will soon be followed by a new LP, “Love Is The Law”. Her next project is a TV film called The Ebony TowerView here… (Lots of Toyah in the next issue, including a two-page interview and songwords)

Official Toyah: Monthly Online Live Track #7

The seventh monthly online live track has been added to Toyah’s official website. It’s the mighty ‘Bird in Flight’, recorded live at the Ruby Lounge, Manchester in April of this year, on ‘The Changeling Resurrection’ Spring tour.

Toyah’s official website will be offering visitors exclusive live tracks each month as ‘The Changeling Resurrection II’ tour approaches. At the beginning of each month an exclusive live track recorded from Toyah’s extensive 2011 tour dates will feature on the Gigs page.

The live tracks will be available to listen to for a limited time only with a new track replacing it each month. These live tracks are a taster for a special live album release planned for digital release in autumn/winter of 2012.
