May
30, 2003: 'Stars
Reunited' - Recording
report / Win a signed 'Hi-De-Hi!'
cast picture |
The
recording of Stars
Reunited, on Tuesday
evening at the Riverside
Studios in London, went
extremely well. Dale
Winton introduced
interviews recorded
earlier in the day on the
riverside setting before
reuniting Paul Shane,
Ruth Madoc, Nikki Kelly
and of course Su live
before the studio
audience. The show
consisted of clips and
anecdotes with all of the
assembled thespians
having a great rapport
with both Dale and each
other. Su really enjoyed
the day.
A big surprise
during the evening for
audience and cast was the
arrival of Barry Howard,
thus bringing together
five of the original cast
members from the first
series.
Audience
questions were asked by,
among others, SuOnline's
Rob Cope, Meron Roberts,
and Mike Gattrell. It is
not known when the
programme will be
broadcast but at the
moment the production
team think it will be one
morning during July.
Win a Hi-De-Hi!
original cast picture
signed, at the Stars
Reunited recording,
by Ruth Madoc, Paul
Shane, Barry Howard,
Nikki Kelly and, of
course, Su.
For the chance
to win this great piece
of Hi-De-Hi! memoribilia,
simply answer this:
Q. Including
the pilot, how many
episodes were made of Hi-De-Hi!?
Please send your
answers to webmaster@supollard.org
- The competition closes
on Sunday 15th June, and
the winner will be
notified, via email, soon
after.

May
25, 2003: Su - Latest
newsy bits & pieces! |
Su recently had her photo
taken with "Noisy",
the character she voices
in the hit children's
animated series Little
Robots. Due to the
success of the first
batch of episodes, Su,
Lenny Henry, Martin
Clunes and Mel & Sue,
will be recording a
further 50 later this
year. Click
on Su & Noisy, to
view more pictures in the
Gallery.
Su was
recently asked to appear
on I'm A Celebrity ...
Shove Me Out Of Here!
The concept of the show
was to take a bunch of
celebs into the skies in
a jet and one-by-one they
would be pushed out (hopefully
while wearing a parachute)
after being voted out by
viewers. Su and everyone
else asked to
participate,
understandably, declined.
The short
film Su appeared in
earlier this year, Lullabelle,
is now showing at various
film festivals in the UK.
Su will
be recording her Weakest
Link guest spot on 2nd
June at Pinewood Studios.
No confirmation of when
this wil be broadcast.
Stay tuned to SuOnline
for further information
as and when it is made
available by the BBC.
Still no
concrete news on the
possibility of a DVD
release of You Rang,
M'Lord? Interesting
to note that an On The
Buses fansite
petitioned for DVD
releases of said show,
and they managed to
persuade the "powers
that be" it was a
sensible idea. Result - On
The Buses is now
available on DVD. Still
hope for YRM? Please
keep emailing communicate@unistudios.com

May
18, 2003: 'Hi-De-Hi!' -
Further DVD releases |
It
looks like, due to the
success of the first set,
there will a second DVD/VHS
Hi-De-Hi! release
later this year. Hi-De-Hi!
- Series 3 & 4 boxed
set is scheduled for
release this September,
once again, by Universal-Playback.
This is almost
definite, though is
subject to change, so
fingers crossed.
Many thanks
to Carolyn from
the BBC.

May
18, 2003: 'Annie' Update |
Further news on Annie
- The Musical 2003: Mark
Wynter and Louise English
will also be on tour

roles as Daddy Warbucks
and Grace Farrell
respectively. Unfortunately,
due to schedules, Su will

May
12, 2003: 'Annie' -
Preparations for Tomorrow
begin! |
Preparations
for the 2003 Annie
UK tour are now taking
place, and pace, with a
number of theatres now
advertising the show in
their new brochures. This
is taken from the
Alexandra Theatre in
Birmingham, where Annie
will play in November.
Annie -
Starring Su Pollard
Annie is a heart-warming
rags to riches story of
an 11 year-old orphan who
longs for her parents to
rescue her from a New
York orphanage and its
mean tempered matron,
Miss Hannigan (Su Pollard).
Annie is offered the
chance of a lifetime when
billionaire businessman (with
a heart of gold) Oliver
Warbucks decides to adopt
her, but not before Miss
Hannigan and her brother
Rooster scheme to kidnap
Annie and claim the
reward money.
The classic
musical features:
'Tomorrow', 'You're Never
Fully Dressed Without A
Smile', 'It's A Hard
Knock Life' and more.
"The sun
doesn't come out tomorrow
- it shines all over the
stage" - The
Stage
"A
wonderful show that gives
you a huge dose of the
feel good factor" - Gloucestershire
Echo
Many thanks to
Alec Kelly for the
brochure.

12, 2003: Calling all 'Hi-De-Hi!'
fans |
As some of you
may know, BBC Television
are currently in the
process of making a
series called STARS
REUNITED hosted by Dale
Winton which attempts to
reunite cast members of
television programmes of
yesteryear. Among these
will be 'Allo 'Allo,
Bread, Top Of The Pops
and That's Life. More
interesting to us is the
fact that one of the
editions centres around
reuniting Paul Shane,
Ruth Madoc, Su Pollard
and Nikki Kelly from HI
DE HI! The producers are
looking for HI DE HI!
fans who might want to
attend the studio
recording and maybe ask
the cast a question or
two on air. The
recording will be in the
early evening of Tuesday
27th May at the Riverside
Studios in Hammersmith,
London.
Anybody
interested in attending
should contact Anthony
Carr on 0208 237

April
9, 2003: Su :@ 'My
Islington' |
Su
was recently featured at
the 'My Islington'
website: Islington
resident Su Pollard is
one of many stars
including Lenny Henry,
Martin Clunes and Mel and
Sue who will be providing
the voices for a new BBC2
cartoon.
Little Robots is
based on the children's
book by Mike Brownlow and
premiered yesterday.
It stars Tiny
and his little robot
friends, who are
pioneers, builders and
architects of a brand new
world.
Nottingham born,
Islington based actress
Su Pollard became a
fixture on BBC television
in the 1980's. Her forte
was comedy, and she
appeared in quite a few
very successful shows.
She first came to
prominence in "Hi-De-Hi"
in which she played
chalet maid Peggy
Ollerenshaw from 1980 to
1988.
After that came
to an end she was in
"You Rang, M'Lord?"
from 1988-92, and "Oh!
Doctor Beeching".
She is famous for her
trademark oversized
spectacles and strong
accent.
Away from
television, Su regularly
appears on stage and had
her own one woman show
"A Song, A Frock and
a Tinkle." She also
took the song "Starting
Together" to number
two in the charts in 1986.

April
2, 2003: Su swaps 'Annie'
for 'Vagina Monologues' |
Unfortunately,
due to recent world
events, the proposed tour
of Annie out in
Kuala Lumpa has been,
understandably, cancelled. The
previously mentioned UK
and European dates,
pencilled in for Annie
later this year, are
still going ahead.
Further information on
these as it becomes
available.
Because of the Annie
cancellation Su now has
the opportunity to
finally appear in The
Vagina Monologues, a
production she had to
pull out of last year
due, ironically, to
commitments to Annie!
Details
are still to be
finalised, but it looks
likely that Su will be
appearing in The
Vagina Monologues, or
Vag Mon as Su
calls the show, for
around four weeks in June.
As with Annie,
more specific information
on Vag Mon, dates,
ticket info etc. as and
when it is confirmed.
Please click

Hannigan, from Annie,

section.

April
2, 2003: Su to record a
new single with 'Little
Robots' |
It looks like
Su, as Noisy, the
character she voices in Little
Robots, may soon be
racing up the charts. Su
has recorded a song
called 'The Sparkle
Song', a collaboration by
Don Black (Sunset
Boulevard) and Debbie
Wiseman. The
song could be released as
a single later this year.
