SEPTEMBER 2007
NEWS:
Toyah
to open Birmingham Natural Living
Show 2007
Saturday 29th
September, 2007 Thanks to
Tim Marlowe...Appearances
Toyah will
perform the grand opening of 'The
Natural Living Show... for Body,
Mind & Soul 2007', in her
hometown of Edgbaston, Birmingham
later this year.
The
opening takes place on Saturday
3rd November 2007 at 10am,
followed by a Question &
Answer session, with Toyah, about
all things holistic and natural
at 10.15am.
Entrance
to the event is £3.50 (£2.50
concessions) on the door.
The show
runs for two days; Sat 3rd / Sun
4th November, 10am to 5pm both
days.
The
Official Toyah MySpace revealed
earlier this week that Toyah's
forthcoming new album, due for
release next year, will be titled
'In The Court Of The Crimson
Queen'.
This will,
if we include 'Sheep Farming In
Barnet' and 'Velvet Lined Shell',
be Toyah's 13th studio album (the
first five of these were by Toyah
- the band). Her first album
since 'Velvet Lined Shell' in
2003, and her first full-length
studio album since 'Dreamchild'
14 years previously.
'In the
Court of the Crimson Queen' is
scheduled for release in Spring
2008 and will include 'Latex
Messiah (Viva La Rebel In You)'
and 'Heal Ourselves' - both
recently previewed on The
Official Toyah MySpace.
The title
of the album is a reference to
the debut album by King Crimson,
'In The Court Of The Crimson
King' (cover picturd to the
right), released in 1969. of
course, Toyah's husband, Robert
Fripp, was/is a member of King
Crimson.
ITV2's
drama The Secret Diary of a Call
Girl, starring Billie Piper, has
proved a hit with audiences,
attracting just under 1.8 million
viewers on its debut.
The first
episode of the raunchy series
recorded one of the biggest
audiences for the channel since
it began in 1998. It also scored
higher ratings than the
programmes showing at the same
time on BBC Two, Channel 4 and
Five.
The drama
is based on an online diary,
written under the pseudonym Belle
de Jour, which became a
best-selling book. These were
entitled The Intimate Adventures
of a London Call Girl.
Piper took
the lead role of Hannah, a legal
secretary who has a secret double
life as a high-class prostitute.
The series was heavily marketed,
with advertisements in magazines
and on billboards, as part of
ITV2's XXL Thursdays
strand.
A
spokeswoman hailed the viewing
figures as "a fantastic
result".
The
channel followed the episode with
the premiere of the third series
of award-winning US show
Entourage. The comedy series,
produced by Mark Wahlberg, was
watched by 255,000 viewers.
The
highest-rated show on a digital
channel to date was a live
Premiership football match
between Manchester United and
Arsenal on Sky Sports 1 in 2004,
with an audience of 2.77 million.
Footballers' Wives Extra Time
holds the record for most viewers
on ITV2 - with just over 1.9
million viewers in May 2005.
The
amazing online artwork for 'Latex
Messiah (Viva La Rebel In You)'.
Who can fail to notice the echoes
of Toyah's iconic 'Thunder In The
Mountains' sleeve?

Dean..................Press Clips
Toyah is
pictured in a number of TV
Listings magazines this week, and
will, no doubt, appear in some of
those that accompany the
weekend's newspapers today and
tomorrow.
Of course
this is because Secret Diary
of a Call Girl begins airing
this coming Thursday on ITV2.
'TV Quick'
and 'TV & Satellite Week'
both use the same picture of
Toyah, with Billie Piper, in
their issues (see below for a
larger scan).
Billie is
interviewed in both and in the
latter magazine says: "Toyah
was amazing. She's tiny and had
the thickest hair I've ever
seen"
Worcester
News - County's famous ladies up
for an award
Two of
Worcestershire's most famous
women are being praised for their
outstanding achievments.
Eighties
pop star Toyah Willcox, who lives
in Pershore, and retired race
horse trainer Mercy Rimell, from
Upton-upon-Severn, have been
asked to join the prestigious
Women of the Year Lunch. The
highly established event, set up
in 1955 by Lady Tony Lothian,
brings together women from all
ages, backgrounds and walks of
life, and aims to recognise their
individual achievements.
Ms Willcox
is a singer, writer and actress
famed for her outlandish style in
the early 1980s. She had big
chart hits with It's a Mystery, I
Want to be Free, and Thunder in
the Mountains.
She also
won an award as Best Female
Singer at the Brit awards.
This month
she will star in ITV2's Secret
Diary of a Call Girl alongside
Billie Piper.
Mrs Rimell
is the only women ever to train
in Cheltenham Champion Hurdle.
She was an assistant to her late
husband Fred Rimell and after
taking over the trainers license
she won the Champion Hurdle in
her own right. Now aged 88, she
remains a well-known face in
horse racing.
Every
woman asked to attend the Women
of the Year Lunch is invited in
recognition of their contribution
to society and achievements in
their chosen field. Those invited
are chosen by a council of over
40 women, including president
Joan Armatrading and chairman
Eleanor Angel.
The women
at the event, which is held at
the InterContinental Hotel in
London on Monday, October 15,
come from a number of
professions, ranging from the
arts to the financial business
world, encompassing media,
medicine, politics, charity work
and agriculture.
This
year's key note speaker is war
correspondent Christiane
Amanpour.

Toyah,

English Eccentrics (the company,

gathering in Norfolk.
Helen
David (pictured in both photos
with Toyah), founder of English
Eccentrics, said: My great
friend Toyah Willcox came all the
way from a gig in Sheffield and
played us her new,
yet-to-bereleased, single
Heal Ourselves which
you can listen to on Toyahs
Myspace page. Its really
fabulous and deserves to be a
huge hit.
Next
day, many slightly hung-over
people pitched up at our house
for a resuscitating coffee. Toyah
kept us amused by getting my
sister-in-law, Georgina, and I to
try on her stage bodies a series
of shop dummy torsos sprayed in a
variety of colours.
Toyah's
Official MySpace has been updated
with the September Playlist,
Added gigs to the Upcoming Shows
section, and Toyah's Blog
(Diary/Webletter @ The Official
Toyah website) for September.
Toyah
mentions in her latest
Webletter/Blog that herself and
Simon Darlow have completed
another two new songs. That
brings the confirmed total, so
far, to five:
Latex
Messiah (Viva La Rebel In You)
Heal
Ourselves
Lesser
God
Sensational
Angel
In You
Toyah also
mentions she has just filmed a
new The Humans video, in her
mirrored rehearsal room, along
with Bill Rieflin (the other
Human) and Chris Wong, who is now
part of The Humans project. The
video, like the ones filmed for
'Latex Messiah' and 'Heal
Ourselves' are specifically for
MySpace/YouTube.
