BBC Berkshire - Jack and the Beanstalk
 Wednesday 7th November, 2007...................................................Theatre
The Hexagon in Reading presents a giant of a pantomime this year: Jack and the Beanstalk. So scatter your beans and come along to see Toyah Willcox, Christopher Lillicrap and more from 8 December to 6 January.

The Proper Pantomime Company bring their magical production of Jack and the Beanstalk to Reading audiences this Christmas.

Expect The Hexagon to resound to the Giant's famous rumblings: Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum!  Yes - to The Hexagon he will come! The panto opens on Saturday 8 December and comes from the team that presented the highly successful Aladdin at The Hexagon in 2006.

Join poor idle Jack and his mother Dame Daisy on their adventures as they try to raise money by selling the only thing they have left – Buttercup the family cow.

Top of the bill is Toyah Willcox playing the hapless Jack.

Christopher Lillicrap, regarded as one of pantomime's top dames, reprises his role as Dame Daisy and is as compellingly unattractive, saucy, infernal, ingratiating and over the top as ever.

Children will adore Buttercup the Cow, hot hoofing it to the Hexagon from her starring role in the hit Rock Musical Shake, Cattle and Roll.

Look out for the beautiful Tania Whatley as the Enchantress, Simon Ludders (CBBC's Young Dracula) who plays the evil Burp and Harvey James as Silly Billy – he was a big hit with Hexagon audiences last year as Wishee Washee.

Come and join the gang for another magical family pantomime!

Toyah will sing her 1981 hit single It's a Mystery as well as Guns N' Roses power ballad Sweet Child o' Mine and the Tina Turner classic River Deep Mountain High and, after illuminating the town centre with her performances, the pop sensation will switch on the Christmas lights in Princess Square at 4.30pm and then in Charles Square.

Toyah was interviewed in the 'Birmingham Sunday Mercury' last week:

Punk legend Toyah Willcox is to help transform Birmingham into the British equivalent of Hollywood. The Kings Heath singer and actress is working on a secret drama project centred in her native city.

Birmingham Evening Mail - Small Screen Toyah Story
 Saturday 3rd November, 2007.................................................Press Clips
Brummie singer Toyah Willcox is back wearing leggings and busty tops - but this time as a medieval wench rather than a punk rocker. The Kings Heath-born star revealed she has been approached about a part in the long-awaited new series of BBC1's Robin Hood.

The 49-year-old, who now lives in Worcestershire, is becoming a regular on screen after winning small parts in some of the hottest TV shows going.

Toyah had just finished her scenes for The Secret Diary of a Call Girl alongside TV babe Billie Piper.

"In The Secret Diary... it's still very much a 'blink and you'll miss me' role, but I loved it and didn't seem to perish any cameras whilst working," said Toyah. "We only had persistent rainfall to dodge. Now I'm studying scripts for BBC'S Robin Hood, which I might fit in before I go on tour to Estonia."

The '80s punk rocker has a grounding in acting as she trained at the city's Old Rep Drama School.
