25
years (of music), 27 years of that crazy
"biz" called "show"!, and
Toyah can still put on a
gig
most other performers would kill to come close
to. Friday 10th October 2003, hundreds (if not
thousands
- not sure of the capacity but it was mighty
full) gathered to help Toyah celebrate
the
important milestone at the Mean Fiddler, Charing
Cross, London.
Wearing
a retro looking black top, decorated with belts
and buckles, black tights, thigh boots
and
two, yes two, pairs of knickers (I know that 'cos
she announced it onstage!), Toyah
looked
amazing. Her hair had been newly cut (six inches
taken off the length for anyone
interested
in finer details) and strips of red, burgundy and
brown highlights added.
The
gig lasted around 90 minutes, included two
encores, with 19 songs played (Danced twice)
and
Toyah
barely (if you'll excuse the pun:)) stood still
for more than a few seconds, reaching into
the
front of
the crowd on numerous occasions. She seemed to be
in a really good mood, and
genuinely
surprised and happy that so many people had
turned out for her.
Highlights,
aside from the entire gig, atmosphere, good
natured crowd, were 'Bird In Flight',
'Jungles
Of Jupiter', 'Little Tears Of Love', 'Our Movie',
'The Vow', 'Angel & Me', 'Troublesome
Thing',
'Neon Womb', and a brilliant sing-a-long version
of 'It's A Mystery'.
As
was said on Friday: "Here's to the next 25
years!"
