As the popularity of glam rock faded, no dominant musical scene emerged to replace it, leading to chart success for bands including Abba, Showaddywaddy, the Brotherhood of Man and the Wurzels &#8211; while outside the mainstream, punk rock was rapidly growing in popularity.
