She was there when I was an awkward 12-year old, a slightly less awkward 19-year old, a super confident 25-year old, a not so confident 44-year old and now, a sometimes optimistic, still curious, still questioning 59-year old!<\/p>\n<p>She was there when I was a kid, when my parents were alive, when I sat in class at school hating life, when I was a student loving life, when I worked in a soul-destroying desk job, when I seriously struggled with my sexuality, when I accepted my sexuality&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve met Toyah briefly a few times over the years and each time has always been difficult for me because I always feel unexplainably nervous, but this year &#8211; after 46 years &#8211; I finally had a photo with her and almost managed to relax. Almost!<\/p>\n<p>She inspired me to be creative, her music has soundtracked my life and helped me through memorable happy days and very tough times &#8211; losing my Mum and Dad &#8211; her imagery brought, and brings, endless colour and light, her positive attitude has helped me be less pessimistic&#8230; I&#8217;ve forever found it fascinating that someone you, essentially, don&#8217;t know personally can bring so much to your life for close to 50 years.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-44379 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/toyah.net\/ds\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/11\/celtoyah26a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"298\" srcset=\"https:\/\/toyah.net\/ds\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/11\/celtoyah26a.jpg 600w, https:\/\/toyah.net\/ds\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/11\/celtoyah26a-300x149.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I will never tire of celebrating Toyah!
