A coherent, rational or beguiling version of Derek Jarman\u2019s punk picture of England, Jubilee, would be not simply a paradox but stage suicide. Sometimes Chris Goode\u2019s new theatrical version \u2013 directed by the writer to mark the movie\u2019s 40th anniversary next year \u2013 does feel like a sort of death. \u201cWe\u2019ve lost a few people,\u201d Travis Alabanza\u2019s Amyl Nitrate pointed out, looking at the audience after the interval on press night. A bit of me went with them. But the leavers missed something. There are throughout jolts and jokes.
