Unlike the cosy, enclave of Regent\u2019s Park Open Air Theatre, the venue is subject to the surrounding bustle of life on the Thames embankment and director Phil Willmott\u2019s production employs the broad strokes necessary to attract and engage with an outdoor audience.<\/p>\n<p>This year Dostoyevsky gets the steam-punk treatment. Willmott has tuned Crime and Punishment into a musical with the help of songwriter and composers Toyah Willcox and Simon Darlow.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestage.co.uk\/reviews\/2016\/crime-and-punishment\/\" rel=\"https:\/\/www.thestage.co.uk\/reviews\/2016\/crime-and-punishment\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-26483\" alt=\"cprm16h\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toyah.net\/ds\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/cprm16h.jpg\" width=\"595\" height=\"397\" srcset=\"https:\/\/toyah.net\/ds\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/cprm16h.jpg 595w, https:\/\/toyah.net\/ds\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/cprm16h-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 595px) 100vw, 595px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The revolutionary undercurrent of nineteenth century St Petersburg seems an appropriate match for Willcox and Darlow\u2019s soft punk score and a couple of crowd-pleasing hits including I Want to be Free and It\u2019s a Mystery sit comfortably in Willmott\u2019s accessible adaptation.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Continue reading at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestage.co.uk\/reviews\/2016\/crime-and-punishment\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>The Stage<\/strong><\/a>.
