{"id":26388,"date":"2016-08-30T22:27:35","date_gmt":"2016-08-30T21:27:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.toyah.net\/?p=26388"},"modified":"2016-08-30T22:29:38","modified_gmt":"2016-08-30T21:29:38","slug":"henley-standard-eighties-giants-sparkle-in-the-rain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/toyah.net\/ds\/henley-standard-eighties-giants-sparkle-in-the-rain\/","title":{"rendered":"Henley Standard: Eighties Giants Sparkle in The Rain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.henleystandard.co.uk\/entertainment\/story.php?id=251114\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"http:\/\/www.henleystandard.co.uk\/entertainment\/story.php?id=251114\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-26389 alignleft\" style=\"border: 6px solid white;\" alt=\"rewind16g\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toyah.net\/ds\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/rewind16g.jpg\" width=\"220\" height=\"131\" \/><\/a><em>Rewind South 2016<\/em> was 10 days ago, but here&#8217;s a newly published review, from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.henleystandard.co.uk\/entertainment\/story.php?id=251114\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Henley Standard<\/strong><\/a>, of the festival anyway&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The weather gods were not kind to Rewind this year, with a very windy weekend punctuated by some heavy rain showers.<\/p>\n<p>However, this did not in any way deter the thousands of Eighties pop fans who visited the riverside site \u2014 and certainly not the 23 acts who performed for them.<\/p>\n<p>The festival proper opened with regular Rewind star Tony Hadley \u2014 but this time he performed a 45-minute set with the Southbank Sinfonia behind him, as well as the Tony Hadley Band. Fittingly for an artist who cites David Bowie as one of the major influences on Spandau Ballet, he opened with Life on Mars.<\/p>\n<p>More than 30 years on from the band\u2019s Eighties peak, Hadley\u2019s voice has held its strength and power \u2014 and ably covered Bowie\u2019s anthem, as well as an Elvis Presley number and Spandau Ballet\u2019s biggest hits.
