Willcox, in a black PVC top, a memento of her 1970s punk roots, led the line with expressive vocals, twirling dances and stylised stage movements: Stevie Nicks meets Brechtian cabaret.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\"><em>The twin bass players, occasionally complemented by programmed beats, played sinewy, rumbling rhythms, a kind of twisted funk, with Fripp contributing a range of guitar effects, from gnarly riffs and a pounding cover of Hendrix\u2019s \u201cPurple Haze\u201d to delightfully subtle chimes. <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\"><em>On this basis the work of Mrs Robert Fripp and Mr Toyah Willcox, as Willcox introduced herself and her husband, deserves a far wider audience.<\/em><\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"4 star rating\" src=\"http:\/\/media.ft.com\/cms\/3d8e8a90-ac5a-11de-a754-00144feabdc0.gif\" width=\"68\" height=\"13\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">Read the full review at &#8216;FT.com\/Arts&#8217; <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/cms\/s\/2\/f50edf8a-2261-11df-a93d-00144feab49a.html\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\">.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;SwimathonPete&#8217;s Blog&#8217; offers an interesting perspective of the Bishops Cleeve warm-up show in his <em>Toyah Toyah Toyah<\/em> post.
