'Sunday Mirror' - TOYAH: MEN
WATCH OUT |
Toyah
was interviewed in yesterday's
'Sunday Mirror', about the
forthcoming I'm A Celebrity
... Get Me Out Of Here! She
also gave a brief opinion on each
of her future jungle mates... TOYAH:
MEN WATCH OUT
Ask Toyah Willcox what
she's dreading most about the
jungle and the answer is
simple...the men.
"It
will be anarchy," she says.
"The sportsmen will be the
worst but they are all strong
characters, real alpha males.
They're not going to take well to
being told what to do by a woman.
But, I'll stand my ground."
Apart
from the bust-ups, Toyah, 44, is
looking forward to being stranded
in the jungle with nine
celebrities. "It's the
experience of a lifetime,"
she insists.
"I
loved it last year and watched it
avidly. Tara PT was my favourite.
The sexual tension between her
and Darren Day was electric,
although I can't promise we'll
recreate it."
She's
already packed her luxuries - a
pair of tweezers and a hot water
bottle. "I can't stand being
cold so I'll have to figure out a
way to heat water over the
fire," she says. And even
though she's a veggie she will
eat whatever is on offer - except
bugs.
She
is also looking forward to the
tasks the stars will perform.
"The harder, the
better," she says.
"Thanks to touring in
Calamity Jane, I'm the fittest
I've ever been."
And
she's not worried about being
voted off by viewers. "The
first thing I'll do is grab my
husband (guitarist Robert Fripp)
and jump into a boiling hot
bubble bath."
TOYAH'S
VERDICT
Wayne
Sleep - Edgy, with tons of
energy and honest - to the point
of being uncomfortable to be
around.
Daniella Westbrook
- This year's Tara. A feisty
little bird, who is as bright as
a button and also very funny.
Antony Worrall
Thompson - Funny, lovely,
adorable but also quirky. We'll
want to keep him as he can cook
for us.
Phil Tufnell -
The one I'm most worried about.
I've heard he is a real alpha
male and will want his own way.
Sian Lloyd - She
always looks immaculate. I can't
wait to see her with bad hair and
nails. But she's a strong
character.
John Fashanu - An
obvious leader because of his
background in sport, but I don't
know much more about him.
Catalina Guirado
- Thank God she's around to wear
a bikini so no-one will be
interested in looking at me.
Linda Barker -
She's really sweet and a mother
so she will be used to dealing
with squabbles and be the
peacemaker.
Chris Bisson - He
seems like a nice guy and I'm
looking forward to meeting him.

A Celebrity' Toyah-related
newsybits & pieces - Issue 3 |
ITV are now
running a trailer for I'm A
Celebrity ... featuring
'Welcome To The Jungle' by Guns
'N' Roses as the theme music.
Nell McAndrew, from series one,
in yesterday's 'Sunday People'
(Sunday 20th April) on Toyah:
"Could be singing her hit
I Wanna Be Free."
Phil Tufnell from 'The Sun'
(Monday 21st April):
"Ive got nothing to
fear. Except, perhaps, the other
celebrities.
He
says: "I reckon John Fashanu
and me will be mates - he likes a
drink, like me. And I like Linda
Barker, she seems the kind of
woman I could have a laugh with
and shes got brains.
"Toyah
Willcox will be good too. I hear
shes got God - and
Ive got some of her albums.
So long as we stick to talking
about music I think well
get along."

21, 2003: 'ITV
Teletext'- Jungle mysteries
petrify delicate Toyah |
Jungle
mysteries petrify delicate Toyah Eighties
singer Toyah Willcox is gritting
her teeth for an ordeal by
insects this month.
Toyah,
44, is one of the 10
personalities heading for
southern Queensland, Australia,
for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out
of Here!
The
jungle area is home to poisonous
insects and spiders. "I'm
terrified of virtually every
insect except butterflies,"
she said. "I once woke up
with a spider on me and I burst
into tears."
Programme
makers say the new area of
rainforest used by I'm a
Celebrity is more dangerous than
the one last year.
A
spokesman told TV Plus:
"There are a lot of nasties
out there. It is potentially more
dangerous because it holds small
pockets of rainforest, meaning
that chance encounters with
wildlife are likely to be more
frequent."
The
show is located at the foot of a
dormant volcano. A medical team
is on hand to help any of the
personalities in the series,
which includes weathergirl Sian
Lloyd, ex-cricketer Phil Tuffnell
and former Coronation Street
actor Chris Bisson.
The
stars will have to perform tasks
to buy food and home comforts.
But another hazard is the
gympie-gympie stinging tree,
which can cause death and also
painful burns.

'News Of The World' - I'm A
Celebrity |
I'm A Celebrity ... Get
Me Out Of Here! begins on ITV1
and ITV2 a week tomorrow.
Joining Catalina will be
former EastEnder Danniella
Westbrook, 29, Changing Rooms
presenter Linda Barker, 40,
singer Toyah Willcox, 45, weather
girl Sian Lloyd, 44, cricketer
Phil Tufnell, 36, ex-Corrie star
Chris Bisson, 27, dancer Wayne
Sleep, 54, ex-soccer ace turned
telly star John Fashanu, 40, and
chef Antony Worrall Thompson,
51, They
will fly by helicopter to the
camp in Coolangatta at the muddy
bottom of a steep volcanic
ravine. It is cut off from
the world and surrounded by 35
metre-high gum trees.
There
are 27 hidden cameras around the
camp which will film their every
move, day and night.
The
celebs will have to journey out
of their camp to reach a second
area where they will carry out
challenges such as eating
creepy-crawlies. To reach the
area they must cross a rickety
bridge swinging six metres
up.
When
they are voted off, they make the
Walk of Shame to a treehouse
where hosts Ant and Dec are
waiting. Linda might like to make
some alterations to the crude loo
open to the elements...and bugs.
The celebs risk getting attacked
by huge funnel web spiders which
can kill with one bite.
A
stream provides drinking water
and a natural pool called a
billabong serves as a bath and is
also where they do their laundry.
Unfortunately both are also the
home of giant carpet pythons. The
world's deadliest snake, the
taipan slithers nearby.
Savage
dingos prowl and giant fruit bats
as big as spaniels swoop.
Each
contestant will be briefed and
checked by paramedic Bob McCarron
and shown how to deal with
blood-sucking leeches.
He
said: "I give everybody that
goes in there two weeks' supply
of salt to sprinkle on the
leeches."
The
celebs will sleep on rough narrow
canvas camp beds outdoors and
will pick lice off every inch of
each other's bodies in the Tick
Room. At the centre of the camp
is a log fire serving as the
kitchen'. The stars will be
given whole, freshly-killed
animals which they must skin, gut
and cook. The Bush Telegraph room
is back, bigger and better than
before. This is where the celebs
will go to to hear their
instructions from Ant and Dec,
talk to producers or chat
together.

April
21, 2003:
'Ireland Online'/'Irish Examiner'
- Celebs prepare to face jungle
horrors |
Jungle contestants on
Im A Celebrity ... Get Me
Out Of Here! will have to contend
with potentially fatal stings
among their many hazards
from a killer tree. The 10
stars of the new series, starting
April 28, will have to watch out
for the stinging tree, gympie
gympie, as they negotiate the
horrors of nature in southern
Queensland, Australia. As well as
unpleasant vegetation, the celebs
who include weather girl
Sian Lloyd and former Coronation
Street star Chris Bisson
again have to face the wrath of
the insect kingdom, as well as
snakes.
The
new location, at the foot of a
dormant volcano poses a number of
serious health risks. A
spokeswoman for the ITV1 show
said: "There are a lot of
nasties out there." On top
of being fatal in the worst case
scenario, the sting from the
gympie gympie itself is enough to
give horrendous pain.
There
are dangerous barbs and thorns on
several vines near the camp,
together with poisonous berries
and fruits. Deadly funnel web
spiders will potentially be
lurking and there are more than
20 species of snake eight
of those, the most dangerous
Australia has to offer.
Mosquitoes in the area could be
carrying dengue fever, there are
paralysis ticks which could cause
serious illness if nips go
unchecked and there are three
types of scorpion.
The
spokeswoman added: "The
location is potentially more
dangerous than that used for the
first series in north Queensland.
The region holds smaller pockets
of rain forest, meaning the
chances of encounters with the
vast array of native wildlife are
much higher."
Contestant
Toyah Willcox, 44, said:
"Im terrified of
virtually every insect except for
butterflies.
"There
have been times that Ive
woken up with a spider on me and
Ive burst into tears."
