Su Online - News Archive (Mostly)
Returns!
Following numerous requests
for Su Online's vast News
Archive -
stretching back over 20 years - to be
made available again. The good news is
that we have managed to reinstate a large
chunk of the News Archive - January 2001
to August 2014 and April 2019 to present,
approximately 17 years of Su news -
Unfortunately the archives between
September 2014 and March 2019 are
permanently lost. This ocurred when this
website was transferred to a new server,
and these archives, which were in a
different format, were irreversibly
deleted. But thankfully a massive amount
of the archive was also saved! Click

Nottingham Post: The Cast Of Hi-de-Hi!
What happened to the
cast of Hi-de-Hi! - from soap stars to
the West End
The holiday camp sitcom featured
Nottingham's Su Pollard and Barry Howard
They may have hung up their yellow coats
more than 30 years ago now, but the
British holiday camp sitcom Hi-de-Hi!
still makes us Ho-de-Ho all these years
later.
Set in the fictional seaside town of
Crimpton-on-Sea in the late 50s and into
the 60s, the much-loved show ran for nine
series from 1980 to 1988. Loosely based
on Butlins or Pontins, the Maplins
holiday camp flung a cast of relative
unknown actors on to our screens.

Snow White at Sunderland Empire - Reviews
A
selection of reviews of Snow White
and the Seven Dwarfs. Su's panto for
2021 is currently wowing theatregoers at
Sunderland Empire.
Sunderland Echo:
Review: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,
Sunderland Empire - Heigh ho, heigh ho,
youll love this great panto:
Weve been waiting a long time so
lets come straight to the point.

pantomime in two years does not

Sunderland Echo on Su:
Sitcom legend Su Pollard stars as the
Wicked Queen who, as the name suggests,
is thoroughly unpleasant. She revels in
the good round booing she receives every
time she enters the stage. Her baddie
credentials are revealed immediately in
the prologue, which states that she
supports Newcastle United (know your
audience). Be honest. Who better to play
a pantomime baddie? The audience is in
good hands with Ms Pollard who can still
belt out a tune too.
British Theatre Guide:
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: I
dont think Ive laughed so
much at a panto for a long time, and that
says a lot because huge amounts of comedy
have been the stand-out feature of those
Ive seen this season. The
traditional old jokes are well
represented: the Dame confesses,
Whenever Im down in the
dumps, I buy a new dress to which
the reply comes, I wondered where
you got them from! But its
not the Comic, Muddles the Jester, who
says it but Snow White, and that really
does give it an extra punch - Continue

British Theatre Guide on
Su: Su Pollard plays the Wicked
Queen as a straight-down-the-line villain
but just occasionally we caught a glimpse
of Peggy Ollerenshaw which delighted the
audience. She manages that delicate
balanceso delicate that many
villains dont achieve it!of
being hated and at the same time loved by
the audience.

Sunderland Vibe - Su Interview
Su
is the cover star of the festive issue of
Sunderland Vibe magazine, with
an interview inside.
A sit down with Wicked Queen, Su
Pollard!
She's behind you! Su Pollard chats
exclusively to Sunderland Vibe about the
magic of panto season and her villainous
role in the new production of Snow White
and the Seven Dwarfs arriving at
Sunderland Empire this winter...
Su, after such a long time away
from the stage, how good does it feel to
be back on the Sunderland Empire stage?
It has felt like decades away fom the
stage. You miss doing warm-ups, learning
music, you long for everything that goes
with the production - It all adds to the
excitement of being back again! We've
just had the launch event for Snow White
and the Seven Dwarfs and it was lovely
meeting the cast. The best part for me
was being in the Empire, it's a fantastic
theatre!
What makes Sunderland Empire so
special for you?
I love it! It was great being on stage
and looking onto that beautiful
auditotium again - it's the West End of
the North East, isn't it! I have to say a
special thanks to the cleaning ladies at
the Empire - they are trememdous! Do you
know how much brass there is? And I don't
mean money! They're forever polishing and
it just gleams fabulously.

Crawley and Horsley Observer: Su
Interview
A
new Su interview, with the Crawley
and Horley Observer, was published
last week. Harpy played The
Capitol in Horsham last Wednesday.
Su Pollard keeps her Horsham
promise - despite "coitus
interruptus"
Back in March last year, Su Pollard,
looking forward to playing Horsham as the
crisis loomed, declared herself to be
ultimate optimist.
If the worst came to the worst, she
insisted, and the virus forced her
one-woman show off the calendar at the
Capitol, she promised she would be back.
That day has finally come.
Harpy, first scheduled to be at the
Capitol in April last year, is now at the
Capitol on Wednesday, October 6 a
play which has arguably gained all the
more relevance in the meantime with its
message that we just shouldnt judge
people and that we should all
flippin well be a bit
kinder.
The
Harpy tour is now well under
way, with Su having already brought the
play to Portsmouth, Hull (two dates),
Horsham, and last night at Margate's
Theatre Royal.
Su is on the road with Harpy
until mid-November, with future dates
taking in Maidstone (12th Oct),
Malvern)16th Oct - two dates), Durham
(18th Oct), Wellingborough (20th Oct),
